SpeeDraw 01

We’re kicking off a new challenge at AmbigramsRevealed today – the SpeeDraw!  Two artists enter, they’re given a word or phrase, and then they’re given 24 hours (48? a week?) to turn it into an ambigram masterpiece! For our first challenge, we’ve got two heavy hitters – Nikita Prokhorov and Elwin Gill!  And they’re tackling the age-old question – Star Trek or Star Wars? Please note: All images and artwork are properties of and copyrighted to each individual artist, unless otherwise noted. Do not use the work without permission from the artist.

In this SpeeDraw, both artists were given two words and asked to make them into a symbiotogram. Given the nature of the letters, some combinations were predictable while others…not so much. Take a look at the different solutions below!!

In Nikita’s rough drafts, we can see the evolution of his piece.  Which a/a combination will he use?  How will he make the St turn flawlessly into a k?  Can an R really flip to a W?

Elwin used a different tactic, but no less effective!  Having already found the perfect structure, he chose to focus on design aspects, with some amazing results!
